Which approaches are least effective in reducing alcohol harm?

The interventions with the weakest evidence base for reducing alcohol harm include self-regulation of alcohol marketing, voluntary codes of retail practice, and information/education approaches that focus on persuading individuals to change their behaviour. These are the measures promoted globally by the alcohol industry in an effort to avoid regulation and protect their business interests. Alcohol Forum Ireland provides evidence-based training to build the capacity of individuals, communities and groups to prevent, understand and respond to alcohol harm.
