Donegal REACH Project
Donegal Reach Project supports young people impacted by their parent, siblings or own alcohol or other drug use through one-to-one and group work.
What is REACH?
The Donegal Reach Project supports young people affected by parental alcohol or drug use. The project is for young people aged between 12 and 18 years old.
Those referred are met weekly for a one-to-one session that focuses on self-confidence, behavioural development, mental health support, goal-setting and improvement in family and social relationships. Bespoke care plans are created alongside the young people that is most appropriate to their needs, seeks to address challenges, comforts the young person and can advocate for them if necessary.
The aim of the project is to support all young people involved to realise their self-worth, grow and mature in a healthy way, make plans towards their hopes and dreams for their future, learn more about their emotions and behaviours and how to make better decisions for adulthood.
How it works
Youth Workers work with young people on a one to one basis completing action plans and providing support and mentoring. The action plans help to identity common themes that are addressed as part of a wider group. The Donegal Reach Project recognises the importance of multiagency working and providing a whole family approach.
Young people can be referred on the programme by Community, Voluntary and Statutory organisations working with and supporting families including schools, youth groups, family support agencies, mental health services, etc.

Where it is available
Donegal Reach Project is available to young people across all area and locations in Donegal.
Who can take part
The Donegal Reach Project works with young people aged between 12 to 18 year old who have been impacted by parental alcohol or other drug misuse (past or present).
