designed to support families impacted by alcohol & other drug use.
‘The Irish Community Action on Alcohol Network has recently launched an animation series ‘Five stories of Hope and Recovery’ designed and developed to reduce stigma, encourage families to reach out for support and promote awareness of the fact that help and support is out there for families struggling with a loved one’s addiction.
At an online event in March, Ciara Pidgeon, the Principal Officer in the Dept of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth launched a new ICAAN resource ‘Supporting Parents and Families Impacted by Alcohol & Other Drug Use’. This resource has been designed to promote understanding of the types of programmes that are available to families and gives information on how to access them.
Our five animations, ‘Five Stories of Hope and Recovery’ are available here:
A Sister’s Story – Part 1 – YouTube
A Mother’s Story – Part 2 – YouTube
A Grandmother’s Story – Part 3 – YouTube
A Son’s Story – Part 4 – YouTube
A Wife’s Story – Part 5 – YouTube
"These short animations have been developed as short, positive stories to reduce stigma, promote help seeking and encourage people to seek help and support." "Huge thanks are due to all of the families who shared their stories and worked with ICAAN on the development of these important resources."
