About Us:
MaCYSS is a specialised alcohol and other drug (AOD) service that delivers youth (12-18 years) and family support across Cavan and Monaghan in partnership with HSE, TUSLA and the North-Eastern Regional Drug and Alcohol Task Force.
MaCYSS is an initiative of Alcohol Forum Ireland (AFI) and promotes a philosophy of inter-agency collaboration and community development to support and build capacity across Cavan and Monaghan to reduce and prevent alcohol and drug related harm amongst young people.
Details of the service/interventions offered:
- Counselling support for young people and families who are experiencing difficulties as a result of drug or alcohol use.
- Individual assessment and treatment plans, including Tier 4.
- Programs and resources on alcohol and other drugs related to young people and families.
- Education and awareness training for services providers who engage with young people and families impacted by alcohol and other drug use.
- Consultation with professionals working with young people and families experiencing difficulties with alcohol or other drugs.
As part our clinical service, we are seeking to recruit a Youth & Family Project Worker (Salary aligned with point 1 HSE Social Care Worker Scale) to provide clinical and family support in group (NVR) and 1-1 settings. Essential and desirable criteria for the post are set out below
Qualifications:
- Minimum of Level 7 in Counselling, Psychology, Community Drugs Work, Addiction Studies, Social Care or related field (Essential).
- CRA/ACRA/CRAFT/SMART training (Desirable).
- Facilitation skills (Desirable).
- 5-Step, Steps to Cope, NVR (Desirable).
- Full clean driving licence (Essential).
Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years paid experience working with young people (Essential).
- Minimum of 2 years paid experience working in a substance use setting (Desirable).
- Experience of assessment, care planning and case management (Essential).
- Experience of inter-agency, collaborative working within Community, Voluntary and Statutory settings (Essential).
- Experience of facilitating groups (desirable).
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of a broad range of evidence-based interventions (essential).
- Knowledge of drug and alcohol related issues and policies (essential).
- Working knowledge of the complexities faced in delivering services to young people with problem drug and alcohol use in a challenging environment (essential).
- Knowledge of the local area an advantage.
